The NOWAITTRANSIT® system solution is well designed for freight of iron ore, coal and similar bulk products. Even though the total loaded vehicle weight is less than 10 tons, we are able to transport up to 100 million tons per year using a double track design. For smaller capacities in the 5-20 million ton per year range, a single track design is sufficient.
Alignment
Due to the relatively low speed and light weight of the system, it can be installed on available land along existing roads. It is elevated above ground with a standard span of 36 meters between pylons to allow free and unobstructed passage of people, machines, animals and other general traffic below. The low weight of less than 1 ton/m tube and the usually single entity ownership of the road and road bank simplifies the provision of Right of Way and bridge crossings considerably.
Environment
The enclosed tube provides weather protection for rain, snow and ice storms. This feature has a significant influence on reliability of the transport service, avoiding conventional railway problems with malfunctioning turn outs and signaling systems. The elevated design further reduces the risk for problems with flooding during snow smelting or tropical storm periods.
The environmental impact of a transport tube is minimized, especially when constructed along pre-existing roads. The Right-of-Way issues associated with new lines across untouched land may in many cases be deemed to take too long to overcome. Local people in villages and towns along a NOWAITTRANSIT® line can further be protected by sound proofing the tube when passing inhabited sections.
NOWAITTRANSIT® offers the environmental protection organizations and agencies a perfect solution for combining industrial activity with responsible management of our environment.
The NOWAITTRANSIT® design is ready for the vehicle chassis and associated systems. NOWAITTRANSIT® and associated finance and balance sheet partners are prepared to arrange completion in less than 2 years after start of construction for common line lengths, with planning and tests performed during the Environmental Impact Study process.
AUTOCON® CONTAINER TRANSPORT
The Korea Transport Institute KOTI has been developing the AUTOCON® system solution for automated handling and transport of 20 and 40 foot containers, based on the NOWAITTRANSIT® solutions. The AUTOCON® system solution is very attractive for long haul trunk corridors with high transport capacity needs as well as short haul applications from congested and space limited container ports to inland and larger facilities. For such applications up to 20 million TEU per year per direction can be transported on a line with two tracks.
For a more detailed description of an application between the two major cities in the Republic of Korea with more than 20 million people, please download The Korea Transport Institute presentation HERE.
